FLUID APPLIED WEATHER RESISTIVE BARRIER
Fluid applied air and moisture barriers are water-resistive barrier that stop both air and water leakage in multiple wall construction types. These barriers are available for cavity walls, masonry veneer construction, stucco, EIFS and most other wall assemblies.
Fluid applied weather barriers provide a means to reduce condensation and energy loss caused by air leaks through the wall assembly. This in turn saves you the owner many headaches as they are a primary means to minimize the risk of water damage to sheathing and associated repair or replacement costs. These barriers are roll or spray applied over a building substrate and quickly dry to form a rubberized, highly-durable, water-resistant membrane; forming a membrane that can function as both a vapor barrier and an air/water resistive barrier. Of all of the fluid applied air barrier contractors in northwest Arkansas, only Martin’s Plastering & Stucco Corp can handle all aspects of installing this barrier and the subsequent wall finishes that you desire.
Compatible with most paints, sealants and
coatings.
Does you wall construction require a high level of protection from the passage of air, liquid water and water vapor?
BENEFITS OF USING A FLUID APPLIED WEATHER BARRIER:
A weather resistant vapor barrier reduces heating and cooling loads as well as lowers the risk of mold and mildew. Compared to self-adhered or mechanically fastened fabric wraps (like Tyvek Commercialwrap TM), fluid applied barriers provide superior protection against penetration of water vapor and liquid water. Some systems are able to even function as a high-performing water resistive barrier, vapor barrier, or as part of a continuous building air barrier system.
WHEN TO USE A FLUID APPLIED WEATHER BARRIER:
Fluid applied membranes are durable and readily adhere to most common building surfaces. They are also very compatible with most paints, sealants and self-adhered waterproofing or air barrier components. These membranes are appropriate for vertical, above-grade applications to exterior sheathing, CMU, cast in place concrete and a whole host of other building surfaces.
ADVANTAGES:
- Stops the passage of liquid water and water vapor
- Quick and easy installation which reduces labor costs
- Stable under air and wind pressure loads (no air leakage or water intrusion between the sheathing and barrier)
- Seamless – tears, holes, or improperly lapped joints that compromise performance are eliminated
- Long exposure to weather (up to 6 months) doesn't compromising performance
- Single component - Long pot life - Water cleanup - Low odor. Non toxic
- Quality control and inspection are simplified
- Quality control and inspection are simplified
- Compatible with most coatings, paints, and sealants
WEATHER RESISTIVE BARRIER
What is the purpose of the weather resistive barrier? As a component in the overall wall system the weather barrier plays the roll of stopping migration of moisture particles as well as droplets of water from migrating further into your wall cavity. Dew point, wind driven rain, etc all play a part in the water content inside of you walls. The weather barrier acts as a line of defense to keep moisture in the appropriate area and prevent it from causing adverse conditions such as structural damage, wood rot, and even mold. Fluid applied weather barriers provide an extra level of assurance that you barrier is consistent due to the coverage forming an integral component adhered directly to a substrate. Careful attention must be made for all types of weather barrier installations but a fluid applied weather barrier allows for a more thorough inspection giving you confidence in its consistency across your wall.
Martin’s Plastering and Stucco Corp is your best choice when searching for fluid applied air barrier contractors. We aim to help protect your valuables from early damage and have extensive experience in the installation and performance of these components to better protect your building.
